Two school buses collided at Oak Harbor Intermediate School with students on board Tuesday afternoon, but thankfully, no one was injured, according to a school district spokesperson.
There were about 80 students on the buses at the time. Besides missing a little bit of paint, the buses weren’t damaged and were able to complete their routes later in the afternoon. The fender bender resulted in significant delays in the students’ commutes home, and some parents were frustrated at how long it took for them to be notified of the change.
Conor Laffey, a communications officer for the school district, said staff usually call parents about delays but that it took longer than expected to notify all of the students’ families.
He said the school district would use its mass communication tool to communicate with parents about future transportation changes.
