The Washington State Park and Recreation Commission is looking for the owners of two plaques that were recently removed from the Deception Pass bridge.
The plaques were apparently placed as memorials for Brian R. Rudolph and Todd A. Kelly. They were removed while the bridge was being painted.
Though the memorial plaques cannot be returned to the bridge due to state law, Deception Pass State Park Area Manager Jason Armstrong said he has the two plaques in his possession and hopes to return them to the family members of the men named thereon.
Rudolph’s plaque indicates that he lived from 1977 to 1996 and says, “Forever one with the sea.” Armstrong said his internet search yielded sparse results, but he has reason to believe Rudolph was a fisherman lost at sea.
Kelly’s plaque reads, “We love and miss you,” and is inscribed with the years 1961-1988. Armstrong said he was not able to find any information about Kelly.
To claim a plaque or provide information leading to the family or friends of Rudolph or Kelly, contact Armstrong directly at 360-675-3767 or Jason.Armstrong@parks.wa.gov.
