The Coupeville Festival Association awarded six grants to five Coupeville organizations during a meeting Jan. 10.
The association awards grants and scholarships each year from nonoperational funds generated by the arts festival. To date, the association has given more than $1 million of grants and scholarships back to the community.
There were five grant awardees this year. Sno-Isle Libraries was given $1,000 to be put toward children’s summer art and reading programs. The Coupeville Boys and Girls Club won $2,000 to purchase supplies for its children’s fine arts program.
The Coupeville Chamber of Commerce received two grants; $2,500 for the Greening of Coupeville parade, and $3,000 for the Memorial Day parade.
The Pacific Rim Institute was awarded $3,000 to implement 2.2 miles of interpretive trails, and the Coupeville Farm to School program was given $3,000 to improve the middle school’s garden and complete the district’s onsite farm.
In the spring, the association will also award at least four $2,000 scholarships to any graduating or graduated student pursuing post-secondary education at a four year university, a two year college, a trade school or any other educational facility.
Applicants must have volunteered with the festival association to be eligible. Interested students can apply online.
