Good news for Central Whidbey sweet tooths — the Coupeville Chocolate Walk is back.

After a pandemic cancellation in 2021, the annual event will take place this Saturday, Feb. 12, but would-be snackers must act quickly; as of Monday afternoon, only 30 tickets were still available for purchase.

The Chocolate Walk will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants will begin at the Rec Hall, where they will check in and receive a map of the walk and a bag to stash their goodies. The map leads to 18 participating downtown businesses where participants will collect chocolate treats.

All the sweets are locally made, according to Coupeville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lynda Eccles. Businesses had the option to either make their own chocolates, or order them from Sweet Mona’s Chocolates in Langley.

Because of the pandemic, participation was limited to 100 tickets this year.

“We didn’t want to bring too many people in town,” Eccles said.

According to Eccles, the Chocolate Walk has been happening for around six years, including the year it was canceled for COVID-19. The event is beloved by many Whidbey Islanders.

“People love it; they really enjoy it,” she said.

Participants are required to follow state masking guidance.
