A month of music will precede the Oak Harbor Music Festival for the first time this year as festival organizers launch the “Sounds of Summer” concert series.
The concerts will take place at 6 p.m. Aug. 3, 10, 17 and 24. Featuring one group or artist each week, the summer series will function as a preview for the fun to come Labor Day weekend.
“Larry Mason, director and chair of all things music for the Oak Harbor Music Festival, is booking the bands, and I am sure he’ll do a fantastic job at bringing us great entertainment,” wrote Cynthia Mason, president of the Oak Harbor Music Festival board in an email.
The summer concerts will all take place at the Windjammer Park pavilion.
The series is sponsored by Windermere Real Estate Whidbey Island.
“The Oak Harbor Music Festival is a landmark event for Whidbey every year,” Windermere owner Kristen Stavros said in a press release on the series. “Adding a more intimate series of community events leading up to it and utilizing the beautiful new space at Windjammer Park just makes sense.”
Music Festival personnel were likewise enthusiastic about partnering with Windermere.
“It is the first time we’ve partnered with a like-minded community business that sees the value in music’s inspiration,” Mason wrote.
Labor Day weekend this year will mark the 10th annual Oak Harbor Music Festival.
