Contractor crews working on behalf of the Washington State Department of Transportation completed work on the Clinton Ferry Terminal Pedestrian Connectivity project, just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

The department’s website states that the project is to improve the pedestrian access route on State Route 525 in Clinton from the park and ride at Deer Lake Road to the Clinton Ferry Terminal.

Crews updated the sidewalk, crosswalks, provided additional lighting and enhanced safety features to provide a better route for pedestrians and cyclists from the parking lot to the ferry terminal, according to a press release.

The construction project was planned based on input from the community, ferry riders and a thorough maintenance evaluation. It was determined that the section of pedestrian access from the park and ride to the ferry terminal was in need of significant rehabilitation as there were narrow and missing sections of sidewalk.

“We appreciate the patience of Washington State Ferry passengers and the surrounding community while we had temporary lane reductions in place to create a safe work zone,” the press release states.
