Letter: Hoffmire has qualities to be great mayor

Editor,

We have known Shane Hoffmire since he was a teenager. We hired him to help us put 15 tons of hay in our barn for the winter. We were impressed with his work ethic then, just as we are today.

Trying to find teenagers who were willing to throw 50-pound hay bales all day has never been easy, but Shane showed up every day and willingly put his time in and worked hard. Besides bucking hay he was really good at recruiting and motivating others to help. If we needed more help, Shane knew where to find additional workers.

Shane was able to talk with anyone, definitely not shy, and always respectful. We enjoyed having him work for us for several years.

Later we heard he was on the Parks and Recreation board. Always willing to take on the tough issues, with Shane you always know where he stands and where you stand. He has always been the one who is unafraid to ask the tough questions and who’ll stand up for what he believes is right.

When Shane takes on a project nothing will deter him from accomplishing whatever it is. He is dedicated to improving this community and will do whatever it takes to make this the best city in the state. He is very active in the community and listens to the people to find out what they want their community to look like. He is a leader with strong focus and determination. He is devoted to his family and his community.

Shane’s style of leadership is what this city needs! He has spent many years gaining experience and knowledge that will make him an excellent mayor of Oak Harbor.
