Bryan Bjorndal, a cherished member of the Whidbey Island community, passed away suddenly on 2/2/24. Born in 1954, Bryan’s life journey brought him to Whidbey Island in the summer of 2020. He embraced the island’s natural beauty and vibrant community, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. A graduate of Leadership Whidbey in 2022, Bryan demonstrated a commitment to fostering positive change and growth within his community. His leadership skills and passion for service were evident in his active involvement as a volunteer and board member of the Island Shakespeare Festival and the Pacific Northwest Naval Air Museum. Bryan’s dedication to these organizations helped enrich the cultural fabric of Whidbey Island and beyond.
Bryan will be remembered not only for his civic contributions but also for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering generosity. His genuine care for others touched countless lives and left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
Bryan was preceded in death by his mother Audrey Bjorndal and brother, Brandon Bjorndal. Survived by his sons, Brent and Travis Bjorndal, former spouse Sue Bjorndal, father Frank Bjorndal (wife Lynda), sisters, Bryce McCannell (Rod), Brenda Jones (Ralph), brother Brad Bjorndal (Diana), and his beloved dog Finn. While he may have left this earthly realm, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Bryan’s life will be held on Saturday, 2/17/24 at Port of Coupeville Greenbank Farm, 5-7pm. Community, friends, and family are invited to come together to honor his memory and share stories of his remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Island Shakespeare Festival or the Pacific Northwest Naval Air Museum in Bryan’s honor.
Bryan Bjorndal’s legacy of compassion, service, and leadership will continue to inspire and uplift us all. May he rest in peace, knowing that his impact on the world will never be forgotten.
