On Friday, May 2, 2014, Fleet Readiness Center Northwest (FRCNW) at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station sent the last Pratt & Whitney J52 engine across the test cell for ready-for-issue. For over 56 years the J52 engine has been a part of the Electronic Attack community, and for over 55 years FRCNW has provided exceptional Intermediate Level support to the Electronic Attack community. To commemorate this significant event, FRCNW had a Final Engine Ceremony at 1 p.m. at the Test Cell.  The J52 engines were used on both the A-6 Intruders which were retired in the mid 1990’s and the EA-6B Prowlers, which are being replaced with the new EA-18G Growlers.
