All Whidbey Island veterans are invited to a Veterans Stand Down from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 5 at the American Legion Post 141 in Bayview.
Sponsored by the Veterans Resource Center and American Legion Post 141, the event will offer free food, live music, free haircuts, giveaways and much more.
Benefits counselors from the Veterans Administration will be on hand to help veterans determine their eligibility. Vets are encouraged to bring along their DD214, discharge papers, VA card or retired military identification.
There will also be VA employment and housing counselors on site as well as information and counseling for mental health and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Representatives from various Island County veterans groups will also be on hand.
