Here’s a chilly way to start the new year.

Island County Teen Leadership is hosting the eighth annual South Whidbey Polar Bear Dive at noon on Jan. 1 at Double Bluff in Freeland.

Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. Cost is $15 but you can save $5 by bringing a bag of canned food to donate to Good Cheer.
