Family and friends came together July 16 at Stoneridge Country Club in Poway, Calif. to celebrate the 90th birthday of Capt. Edward Winter.

Winter is a 30-plus year veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was the chief of staff at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island from 1965 to 1970. He and his wife, Nancy, have lived in Poway for more than 35 years.

The couple’s children and their spouses, Terrie and Mick Kavran of Kenmore, Wash.; Edward and LuAnn Winter from University Place, Wash.; Donna Winter and Liz Dannendaum, of Madison, Wisc.; and Michael Winter of San Diego, Calif., all attended. Three grandchildren and their families from Seattle and two great grandchildren also attended the celebration.
