Rollover accident snarls traffic at Deception Pass | Update

Emergency responders were called to Deception Pass Bridge this evening for a report of a car that flipped over with occupants trapped inside.

Traffic was snarled around Deception Pass Wednesday night after a car rolled on Highway 20 near the bridge.

The driver was headed northbound, became distracted, drove into the ditch and then yanked the steering wheel back too hard the other direction, said Mike Brown, North Whidbey Fire and Rescue chief.

Both people in the car were taken to Island Hospital with minor injuries. Bystanders helped one of the people from the car. Initial reports indicated the car was on fire, but it was not.
