The Island County Children’s Commission recognized Coupeville resident Jordan Lamb for his efforts helping a student through Big Brothers Big Sisters.

He received the commission’s “Caught in the Act” award during a recent Coupeville Town Council meeting. He was cited for his efforts mentoring a student through the island-wide program.

Stephanie Green, match coordinator with Island County Big Brothers Big Sisters, lauded Lamb’s work to help a student, identified only as Cameron, to improve his grades and self esteem.

“He needed someone to reinforce positive behavior,” Green said of the student.

Lamb met with his little brother for one hour, one day a week. Green said his commitment to Big Brothers Big Sisters is impressive considering his activity in sports and extracurricular activities.

In addition to mentoring a Little Brother, Lamb was the valedictorian for the Coupeville High School class of 2010. He has been a member of the ASB executive board and competed on the soccer and tennis teams. He is also active with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is a co-chair of the youth committee.
