The North Whidbey Aquatic Club’s Kennedy Trisler, competing in the girls 11 and 12-year-old division, qualified for the Age Group Sectional Swimming Championships in three new events: 100 butterfly (1:07.99), 50 backstroke (31.66) and 400 individual medley (5:13.48) on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Port Orchard qualification meet.

Also qualifying for the age group sectionals, a meet that brings together the fastest age group swimmers in eight western states, was 10-year-old Marissa Morris.

Morris swam her first standard qualification time in the 200 freestyle with a clocking of 2:24.69, four seconds under the qualifying time. She also established two new Pacific Northwest Swimming Championship standards in the 100 breaststroke (1:35.47) and the 100 individual medley (1:21.90).

Trisler and Morris were joined by NWAC teammates Jacob Jepsen, Josh

Jepsen and Dakota Powers as individual event winners.

Swimming 100 percent personal bests for the Aquajets was Joey Jepsen.

NWAC next competes at the Senior Sectional Championships, March 11 through 15, in Federal Way.

The North Whidbey Aquatic Club is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District. It includes swimmers of all abilities and ages from 6 through college.

Tryouts occur Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the city pool from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m.

New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke. The first two weeks are free.
