Glacier Peak won both the boys and girls races in a five-team meet, which included Oak Harbor, at Mariner Wednesday, Sept. 22.

Oak Harbor’s girls finished second to the state’s top ranked 3A Grizzlies. GP, also ranked 21st in the country, tallied 18 points, followed by Oak Harbor (58), Edmonds-Woodway (65), Cascade (107) and Mariner (DNQ).

In the boys race, Glacier Peak led the way with 33 points, followed by Cascade (46), Edmonds-Woodway (63), Oak Harbor (94) and Mariner (115).

Christina Wicker led the Wildcat girls by placing seventh (21:07), one spot ahead of Abby Leete (21:25). Olivia Meyer was 11th (22:10), Alex Laiblin 13th (22;27) and Taylor VonGrey 14th (22:27).

Oak Harbor’s top runner Adrianna Royal did not compete, and its No. 2 runner Allison Duvenez was “nursing sore legs,” according to coach Eric Peterson and finished back in the pack.

Coupeville’s Tyler King, who trains with Oak Harbor, won the boys 5K race in 16:16.

Oak Harbor’s Matt Reith was eighth (17:53), John Kaltenbach 15th (18:29), Mike Kincy 21st (19:04), Wyatt Homola 26th (19:58) and Chris Opdyke 30th (20:23).

Next up for Oak Harbor is its only home meet of the season Thursday, Sept. 30, at Windjammer Park at 3:45 p.m. with Lake Stevens and Lynnwood.
