Dozens of students at Coupeville High School suddenly donned black coats and dark sunglasses. What was happening?
Rather than preparing for the clandestine life as a secret agent, they were participating in a weeklong homage to action/adventure flicks that highlighted homecoming week at the school.
Thursday was Secret Agent Day. While many donned the glasses and the dark jacket, others wore suits and even a camouflage outfit.
Lunchtime provided an activity where each class competed in a “recon” competition. Basically students had to pick up paper balls from the ground without blindfolded teacher Barbara Ballard touching them with a swimming noodle. Freshman Mitch Pelroy dominated the competition picking up 10 balls before Ballard touched him.
Thursday’s activity was just one of the ways students recognized the action/movie genre. Monday was Superhero Day, Tuesday was Western Day, Wednesday was Space Day and Friday was Spirit Day.
There was a plethora of activities that took place throughout the week at Coupeville High School.
Students made a push to cram the stands during the school’s soccer and volleyball games that took place throughout the week.
“We’ve been consistent with it for the past couple of years,” said ASB President Scott Arnold.
Tuesday was the annual talent show, Chatauqua, and the homecoming dance takes place this evening in the high school commons.
Most of the school’s royalty was crowned Friday morning during the school’s pep assembly and the 2008 Homecoming King and Queen were crowned during Friday night’s football game.
