A judge sent a stalker to jail last week.

Jermaine Flores, a 22-year-old Oak Harbor man, pleaded guilty in Island County Superior Court to stalking in violation of a no-contact order and violating a no-contact order.

Under the plea bargain, the prosecution and defense recommended that Flores serve seven months in jail and pay $1,217 in fines and fees. Judge Alan Hancock agreed.

Flores’ criminal history includes a past conviction for violation of a no-contact order and fourth-degree assault, both involving the same victim.

The investigation into the case began after a 22-year-old woman reported that her ex-boyfriend, Flores, repeatedly called her on the night of Jan. 12, even though she had a domestic violence no-contact order barring him from communicating with her. The woman said Flores threatened to kill her and her children, court records show.

Flores watched the woman’s home and continually called her. He even called her about ten times while a detective was at her home.

Flores told an investigator that he is an alcoholic and that he violated the no-contact order because he loves the woman, the report indicates.
