East Lake Sammamish ousted the North Whidbey Junior (13/14) Little League team from the state tournament with a 13-3 win Monday, July 20, in Vancouver.

East Lake Sammamish ousted the North Whidbey Junior (13/14) Little League team from the state tournament with a 13-3 win Monday, July 20, in Vancouver.

North Whidbey, coached by Ryan McCarthy, finished the season with a 17-2 record.

East Lake Sammamish, the District 9 champions, held just a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth inning then combined six hits (including a triple and two doubles) and two walks to score six runs.

After East Lake Sammamish scored in the first inning, North Whidbey tied the game in the third. Johnny Bradley and Jakob Dailey singled, and Bradley scored on an error.

East Lake Sammamish scored two runs in its half of the third with the help of a walk, hit batter and error.

In the top of the fourth, North Whidbey made it 3-2 when Ethan Cosper walked and David Sisson singled him home.

East Lake Sammamish then put the game away with its six-run inning.

North Whidbey tacked on its final run in the fifth inning. Dailey singled, stole second, moved to third on Jason Bergeron’s bunt and scored on Nathanael Thompson’s base hit.

Bradley finished the day with two hits, one a double. Dailey and Sisson also had two hits.
