Three members of the North Whidbey Aquatic Club medaled at the Washington State Senior Championships, December 16 to 19 in Federal Way.
Finishing in the top eight for the Aquajets were Price Hu, third in 200 fly, 1:55.38; Ciara Hu, sixth in 200 fly, 2:07.05; and Jacob Jepsen, eighth in 200 back, 2:00.05.
Emily Huffer qualified for the Western Zone Championships in the 400 individual medley (4:45.99), and Jepsen qualified for the Senior Sectional in the 400 IM (4:17.42).
Ciara Hu set a NWAC record in the 400 IM (4:40.37) and joined Huffer, Akasha Trisler and Tori Nickerson to set a another in the 400 medley relay (4:09.74).
One hundred percent relay personal records were set by Jarik Bainco, Nickerson, Harrison Tack and Cole Weinstein; and Weinstein swam 100 percent individual PRs.
That performance helped Weinstein earn NWAC Swimmer of the Meet honors. He also swam a PR in the mile with a pulled stomach muscle and dropped an average of three seconds per 100 yards in the relays.
NWAC competes next at the Anacortes Challenge Jan. 15 and 16, where it will field a team of 60 athletes.
