One student has been diagnosed with pertussis, also known as whooping cough, at HomeConnection in Oak Harbor, according to the Oak Harbor School District.
Pertussis is preventable through immunization.
Immunizations are recommended for all ages.
Infants under one year old, especially those under six months, are most likely to have severe symptoms with pertussis.
Infants with any coughing illness should promptly be seen by their doctor.
