The Whidbey Playhouse is holding auditions for the Michael Cooney British farce, “Cash on Delivery” this month.

Directors Bob Hendrix and Melissa Bridges will seek six men and four women for this comedy. Perusal scripts are available at the Whidbey Playhouse office.

The play is a fast-paced, physical comedy about a con artist who has duped welfare authorities for years by claiming benefits for the innumerable people he claims live at his address. Just as he decides to kill off several of the imaginary dole recipients when matters become too risky, welfare investigators show up. To outwit them, the con artist enlists other creative characters to play the unfortunate souls he’s created.

The audition will include cold readings from the script and people may be asked to demonstrate some physical humor. The directors ask that people dress casually.

Auditions will be held Monday, Feb. 8 and Tuesday, Feb. 9 beginning at 7 p.m. The play will run April 9 to May 1. For more information, contact the Whidbey Playhouse at 360-679-2237, or visit www.whidbeyplayhouse.com. The playhouse is located at 730 SE Midway Blvd. in Oak Harbor.
