Oak Harbor’s Judd Ford missed medalist honors by one stroke in the second round of the Wesco 3A golf championships at the Snohomish Golf Course Wednesday, May 11, but the Wildcats as a team slipped from third to fourth in the final standings.

Ford shot a 75 on the par-72 course to finish one stroke behind Chris Babcock of Shorewood.

Oak Harbor, however, shot 469 as a team, good for fifth in the second round and dropped the Wildcats from third place after the first round to fourth overall.

Following Ford for Oak Harbor were Greg Martin, 91; Caleb Knaack, 98; David Bunch, 102; Quinton Wallace, 103; and Jake Nelson, 107.

Glacier Peak won the team title with a two-day total of 811. Everett shot 840, Shorewood 886, Oak Harbor 909, Lynnwood 928, Shorecrest 941 and Mountlake Terrace 952.

Ford placed fourth overall with a two-day score of 152. Babcock and Conner Denessen of Glacier Peak led the field with 146.

The final Wesco 3A standings for the conference season were released this week and Ford finished second to Babcock in the race for regular-season medalist and Oak Harbor placed fifth as a team.

Players received 24 points for being medalist in each four-team match this season, 23 for second, etc. The winning team received four points, second place three, etc.

Babcock led the league with 261 points, Ford had 247. Martin was 11th with 203.

Ford received all-Wesco first team honors; Martin was honorable mention.

Glacier Peak took team honors with 37 points, followed by Everett, 32; Shorewood, 28; Shorecrest, 19; Oak Harbor, 18; Meadowdale, 16; Lynnwood, 15; and Mountlake Terrace 11.

The Northwest District tournament, which will include the eight Wesco schools and three (Mount Vernon, Sedro-Woolley and Ferndale) from the Northwest Conference, takes place Monday and Tuesday, May 16 and 17, at Lake Paddon in Bellingham at 9:30 a.m.
