A first set win wasn’t enough as the Coupeville High School volleyball team lost 3-1 to visiting Bellevue Christian Tuesday, Sept. 20.
The Wolves opened the match with a 25-22 win, but the Vikings bounced back to take the next three games 25-10, 25-21, 25-21.
“Tough second set where we got on our heals and missed too many serves,” Coupeville coach Cory Whitmore said. He, however, liked how his team shook off the sloppy second game and recovered to compete with a “tough Bellevue Christian team.”
“I am proud of the response and the resiliency we showed,” he added.
Hope Lodell led the Wolves’ offense with seven kills and five aces. Emma Smith and Tiffany Briscoe each had three kills, and Ashley Menges recorded four aces to go along with 12 assists.
Lauren Rose had eight assists, and Valen Trujillo collected 14 digs and Payton Aparicio 12.
North Mason (0-3) visits Coupeville (2-2) for a non-league match at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22.
