Both the Oak Harbor and Lynnwood high school soccer teams came to Wildcat Memorial Stadium Tuesday, Oct. 11, looking for their first win of the season and both left still searching.
For the second time this year the two clubs battled to a tie, this time 0-0 in double overtime. They tied 1-1 Sept. 15. Oak Harbor is now 0-8-3 and Lynnwood 0-9-3.
After an evenly played first half, Oak Harbor dominated the second period and overtimes but couldn’t net the game-winner.
Wildcat coach Jeff Laiblin said, “There was Saran Wrap on the goal; we couldn’t buy a goal.”
Oak Harbor had two shots hit the post and another thunk of the cross bar.
Laiblin said, “We were the better team tonight, but that is the nature of the beast. We had a lot of good plays by a lot of different players.”
Annie Leete posted the shutout in the goal for Oak Harbor and recorded seven saves.
Oak Harbor will play its fourth match in six days when it goes to Meadowdale (8-3) Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m.
