My first in patient experience to any hospital occurred Jan. 28 at Whidbey General Hospital.

Arriving that morning for a routine outpatient procedure turned into being a 24-hour-plus stay where I experienced the OR, recovery room, ICU and finally a room on the ward. Having retired from a 30-year career with the U.S. Navy I have experienced professionalism, but no more than that afforded me by everyone I came in contact with at Whidbey General. From Dr. Zaveruha and his OR staff, nurses Melissa, Linda, Lanie and Geana to nurses Jeannie, Anne and Karen in the ICU, on to Dr. Oakland, nurses Debbie, Myrna, Denise, Laura, Monica, Debbie, Trina, and Inga, thank you for your expertise. If I have forgotten to acknowledge anyone my apologies.

I am still amazed as to the many individuals that were available to me throughout my short stay, and I’m sure I may not have recognized everyone in this writing. I close with special kudos to Dr. “Z” for his several visits to my bedside during my stay with an explicit rendering of what had prompted my admittance, and too, his direct approach to what just may prevent another hospital visit in the near future. With respect:
