After three divisional meets, both Oak Harbor High School NJROTC shooting teams sit on top of their respective standings.

The teams are also gearing up for regional competition.

In league action, the Wildcat precision team leads second-place Battle Ground 6,641-6,539.

Oak Harbor’s score of 2,233 in the second meet is the league’s best mark of the season.

In sporter, OHHS Blue is undefeated and has finished with over 2,000 points in each match. No other squad has reached the 2,000-point standard once.

Oak Harbor holds a commanding 6,061-5858 lead over second-place Bethel 1.

The Wildcats leave next week for the NJROTC Regional Championships at Camp Perry in Ohio.

S-Cubed, a club team host by the Central Whidbey Sportsmen’s Association and made up of OHHS shooters, qualified last weekend for the U.S. Civilian Marksmanship Program/Junior Olympic Regionals in Salt Lake City in March.

Junior Auston McBride has also been invited to train at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs in April.

“This invite is based on his performance at a match last month in Olympia,” coach Dave Goodman said. “He will be shooting with the top shooters in the nation under the eye of the U.S. national team coaches.”

A GoFundMe account has been established to help fund McBride’s trip.
