The Oak Harbor track teams used their depth to overwhelm four opponents Saturday, April 21, at the Carl Westling Invitational in Langley.

The 3A Wildcats, the largest school in the event, won the boys meet with 214 points. Host South Whidbey was a distant second at 61, followed by Ketchikan, Alaska, 44; Coupeville, 40; and Alberni, B.C., 1.

The Wildcats girls amassed 210 points as Coupeville and South Whidbey each earned 66. Ketchikan and Alberni trailed with 8 and 3.

Coupeville, a 1A school, didn’t have the depth to challenge Oak Harbor for the team title, but its members recorded 35 season-best marks in the meet, according to coach Randy King.

Wolf junior Madison Tisa-McPhee earned “Female Athlete of the Meet” honors by winning the 300 meter hurdles (49.4, the state’s seventh-best 1A time), finishing second in the 100 hurdles (16.55, state’s fourth-best 1A time) and running on the winning 4×200 relay team with Jai’Lysa Hoskins, Katie Smith and Marissa Etzell (1:54.2, 1.2 seconds off the school record).

Oak Harbor freshman Dejon Devroe was awarded the “Male Athlete of the Meet” honor. He won the 200 (23.76) and 400 (50.74, the state’s 10th best 3A time), finished fourth in the long jump (18-01) and joined Peter Franssen, Chris Opdyke and Carlton Johnson to win the 4×400 (3:42).

Josh Schrum (800, 2:03.5; 1,600, 5:01.99), Alex Laiblin (1,600, 5:35.74; 3,200, 12:33.59), Jessica Hollins (100, 13.42; 200, 27.85) and Raeanna Wynne (100 hurdles, 16.49; triple jump, 32-11) were other double winners for Oak Harbor.

Schrum also won the boys distance medley relay (11:58.36)with Marcel Weaver, Chris Opdyke and Matt Reith.

Hollins added a win in the 4×100 relay (53.5) with Christina Alexander, Dejsha Lollar and Sierra Seabolt.

Other Oak Harbor firsts were earned by Matt Reith (3,200, 11:29.7), Keon Crumpton (discus, 120-04), Chris Hailer (high jump, 5-08), Josh McVey (pole vault, 10), Cody Hernkind (long jump, 19-03.75), Tucker Lundstrom (triple jump, 41-10.25), Christina Wicker (400, 1:00.72), Heather Dale (800, 2:26.75), Dominique Jackson (discus, 99-06), Ciera Wiser (high jump, 4-08) and Chylan Bass (long jump, 14-00.25).

The Wildcats also grabbed wins in three other relays: boys 4×100 (Jayden Davilla, Johnson, Sheyenne Sams, Hernkind, 45.57); girls 4×400 (Alexander, Nalani Gabbert, Dale, Wicker, 4:26.38); and girls distance medley (Dale, Hannah Bressler, Ashley Everett, 14:16.25).

Coupeville earned firsts from Mitch Pelroy (100, 11.57), Nick Streubel (shot, 39-06.5) and Grace LaPoint (javelin, 103-06).

Thursday, April 16, Oak Harbor joins Marysville-Pilchuck at Arlington at 3:30 p.m., and Coupeville goes to Lakewood with Sultan at 4 p.m.
