Unable to string hits together, the Oak Harbor High School baseball team dropped its final game 2-0 to visiting Marysville Getchell Tuesday, May 3.
The Wildcats (3-12, 5-14) put at least one runner on in all but one inning but couldn’t produce a clutch hit. Oak Harbor finished the season tied for fifth in the Wesco North, dropping 10 of its final 11 games.
Oak Harbor wasted a strong performance from starter Tyler Snavely, who pitched a four-hitter, with 10 strike outs, three walks and one earned run.
Getchell (8-7, 8-12) used a hit batter and single to score in the first inning, then a walk and base hit to tally in the fifth.
Oak Harbor, which had six hits in the game, produced only one multiple-hit inning, the fifth, when it left the bases loaded.
Snavely registered two of Oak Harbor hits. Preston Rankin, Robert Herring, Brandon Philp and Dylan Bailey all singled.
