Tennis: Wildcats pick up another home win

After winning just one of seven games on the road to begin the year, the Oak Harbor tennis team has won three of five on its new home courts.

After winning just one of seven games on the road to begin the year, the Oak Harbor tennis team has won three of five on its new home courts.

The latest visiting victim was Lynnwood (2-9, 3-10), as the Wildcats whipped the Royals 5-2 Thursday, Oct. 7.

Oak Harbor won three of the four singles matches and got a boost from a pair of doubles teams for the win.

Josh Evans (6-3, 6-2), Brandon Vagt (6-2, 6-1) and David DeGuzman (6-2, 6-2) won the second through fourth singles matches.

Eric Berner/Michael Serna (6-2, 6-3) and Ben Harrison/Will Southard (6-4, 6-1) were winners in second and third doubles.

Ben Cardinal (6-2, 6-1) and Geoff Worley/Max O’Dell (6-3, 6-2) dropped the No. 1 singles and doubles matches.

Things will get tougher for Oak Harbor (4-8, 4-9) next week as the Wildcats entertain first place Meadowdale (11-0, 12-1) Monday, Oct. 11, at 3:45 p.m.
