Five local teams won titles in the 11th Annual Rock On! 3v3 Soccer Tournament played Memorial Day weekend at Fort Nugent Park.
The tournament featured 79 teams from around the Northwest spread over 14 divisions.
Whidbey soccer teams put up a strong fight defending their home turf. In addition to the five titles, local teams claimed second in eight divisions.
Goalie Wars, a side event in the tournament, also produced Whidbey winners. Kyle Truex and Spencer Champion won the U15-18 competition, while Caley Power and Vance Freitas took the adult division.
The Oak Harbor GU13 team of Megan Croft, Jada Matthews, Katie Swanson, Cheyenne Vega and Elyssa Widgeon received the tournament’s Sportsmanship Award.
“The young ladies on the team displayed amazing poise, grace and sportsmanship throughout the entire tournament,” tournament spokeswoman River Powers said.
The 3v3 tournament involved two 12-minute halves on a 30-yard, by 40-yard field with a no-play zone in front of the goal.
