The purpose of Whidbey Citizens Climate Lobby is to educate the public and influence the political process to lower the carbon content of the atmosphere to 350 ppm or less.

We are non-partisan and hope to reach a wide range of people of our community. Our approach is invitational, friendly and informational rather than confrontational. Our message will favor socially just legislation that promotes the changes necessary to lower the carbon particle count causing the climate changes.

The parent group (www.citizensclimatelobby.org), will help guide and coordinate our efforts so that our voices become one with strength and power. This lobbying coalition got its seed money from Marshall Sanders, who spent years helping village women in developing countries get loans. As a result of his concern for our planet’s health, he became a presenter for Al Gore. Subsequently, with his fortune, he has been able to fund this grassroots citizens’ groundswell. There are three other Citizens Climate Lobby chapters in the Puget Sound area.

There is an overwhelming consensus among scientists that the climate is changing and that these changes are man-made. However, nearly half of Americans don’t agree. We will be offering informational gatherings for the public to learn more from scientists and authorities on related topics.

If you are concerned about this issue and wish to get involved please contact us. Together we can create the political will to prevent global climate catastrophe and create a better world for everyone. If you are interested, please email jamesparkhyde@gmail.com.
