Two Oak Harbor High School cheerleaders placed first in the individual competition and the team placed second at the Harbor Cheer contest in Gig Harbor Jan. 9.

Senior TracyAnne Vessels and freshman Jember Jansen tied for first in the individual division. Their one-minute routines included crowd, jumps, dance, tumbling and showmanship.

Oak Harbor coach Robin Gohn said the Wildcat team recovered from a “rocky routine” to finish strong and place second to King’s High School.

Gohn added, “It’s been a rough week, returning after the holidays and having to rework and relearn the routine without two cheer members. We just have to execute better, take our time and clean up the routine.”

Oak Harbor’s next competition is Saturday, Jan. 16, at Juanita High School.
