Track: Coupeville’s King earns 1st, Hammer 2nd in day 1 of conference meet

Coupeville’s Tyler King won the 1,600 meters to highlight the Wolves’ effort in the first day of the Cascade Conference league meet at Cedarcrest High School Wednesday, May 11.

Preliminary heats were held in most events with finals in only three for the boys and four for the girls.

The meet finishes up Friday at Cedarcrest beginning at 3:30.

King ran a 4:24.25 for his win. Teammate Hunter Hammer tossed the discus 144-06 to finish second.  That earned 18 team points and the Wolves sit in third place; King’s leads with 44 and Lakewood has 19.

No Coupeville girls competed in the finals of the discus, high jump, triple jump or 1,600.
