You all have done a great job in NOT supporting your local community and families (Whidbey Island Ford closes)!
How is it that you can live, work, retire, in Oak Harbor but you can’t support the local businesses in Oak Harbor that support your schools, parks, and city facilities? It is not that we have lost another business; it’s that our local families have lost their jobs and possibly homes. You have put them on the unemployment lines.
True or false?
It costs more to buy groceries on island (false).
It costs more to buy hardware and lumber on Island (false).
It costs more to buy a Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Mazda, VW, on Island (false).
The correct answer to all the questions is false! It costs the same as if you were to buy the product off the island.
Some might say that the sales tax rate is cheaper off island, but isn’t that what supports our community schools, police, parks, firefighters, hospitals, etc.? These are the people that you are supporting when you buy on-island along with the families that work at the place of business.
Thanks to the local businesses we have a great place to live. I for one would like to keep it that way.
I am committed to buy on Whidbey Island, how about you?
