When is Coupeville School District going to put the kids’ education first?
If they unified with Oak Harbor, they’d have all the benefits of their existing funds … without the waste of duplicating services that exist within the aligned school boundaries.
Oak Harbor kids are provided with a multiplicity of program choices due to their enrollment figures. Read the papers … it’s exciting and stimulating. It is inconceivable that one superintendent, one assistant superintendent, one transportation director one Special education director, couldn’t take on the duties of one more elementary school, one more middle school and one more high school without duplicating administrative costs, as is currently occurring. The school boards should also unify so each area is represented on the board.
The enrichment of program choices, less administrative costs, more teacher and principle movement and cost incentives offered at larger districts should simulate some thinking by the Coupeville School Board that it needs to expand its purpose globally and join with another district, namely, Oak Harbor School District. It wold benefit both Coupeville and Oak Harbor.
Unfortunately, my pocket book won’t allow for the two Coupeville levies for continuation of existing duplications of administrative services, but will open wide for unification and responsible use of existing funds.
