After losing to Anacortes in a six-team meet last week, the Wildcat United middle school cross country team finished ahead of the Fidalgo school this time around in a three-team meet in Anacortes Monday, Oct. 7.
Wildcat United scored 125 points, Anacortes had 173 and Burlington-Edison did not field enough runners to earn a team score.
The 1.9-miles course, the longest of the year, was soft and muddy, according to coach Mike Briddell, and two runners lost shoes while trekking through the slop.
