The Oak Harbor American Legion AA baseball team split a double header at Anacortes Tuesday, June 15.

Oak Harbor used a four-run seventh inning to come from behind and win the first game 5-4. In game two, the host team won 5-2.

In game one Oak Harbor trailed 4-1 heading into its final at bat. After one out, six straight hitters reached safely to fuel the big comeback.

David Tillotson got things started with a walk, then Sam Wolfe singled. Jay Stout drove both home with a triple. He was plated to tie the game on a single by Yale Rosen.

Josh Evans singled, then Justin Counts drove home the winner with a double.

Gabe Clark picked up the win in relief and finished the game by pitching three shut-out innings. He struck out three and surrendered just one hit.

Although Oak Harbor fell 5-2 in the night cap, coach Tyson VanDam said, “We pitched great.”

Evan tossed the first four innings, struck out six and allowed only two earned runs.

Stout pitched the final three, striking out four and allowing only two hits.

Stout also drove in both Oak Harbor runs by scoring Jack Richter twice on a pair of sacrifice flies. Richter was 1-for-1 with a walk and hit-by-a-pitch.

Oak Harbor is competing in the Steamer Invitational Tournament this weekend in Anacortes. They open play Thursday, June 17, at 5:30 against Ferndale. Oak Harbor also plays at 11 a.m. and 1:30 Friday, 4:30 p.m. Saturday, and at a to-be-determined time Sunday.
