Editor,

I am amazed Rob Born is requesting an apology for statements about the Whidbey General Hospital administration and board by two writers for mudslinging after his participation in the Elks forum, where he spent his time degrading all.

Is it not true that you have spent considerable time criticizing Whidbey General’s top administration for allegedly being secretive, incompetent and wasting the taxpayer’s money?

The board is comprised of several members whose function requires cooperation, compromise, confidentiality and integrity. How are you going to accomplish working with a group you have maligned for months?

You promised to hold the board’s feet to the fire if elected. Is that the attitude of a team player? Are you a problem solver or are you going to be a problem? How is the board going to be effective and productive if you are a member with your plan of change?

Again, one of the key elements of success for a group is cooperation.

You stated for over a year that you had actively requested information for your investigation of the board.

You required the staff to put aside their regular duties in order to provide you with hundreds of pages of documentation, using their precious time for your investigation.

How much did you pay for this service? Did you pay a small fee per copy while in reality the time and paper adds up considerably? Did the taxpayers pay for it?

As you can see, I am having difficulty in reconciling your request since I watched you in action at the Elks forum.
