Wildcats boys 2nd, girls 3rd at Stanwood Invitational | Track

The Oak Harbor High School boys and girls track teams each won four events at the eight-team Stanwood Twilight Invitational Friday, May 6.

The Oak Harbor High School boys and girls track teams each won four events at the eight-team Stanwood Twilight Invitational Friday, May 6.

Oak Harbor (121 points) finished second to Lake Stevens (164.5) in the boys team standings. Lake Stevens (179) also took the girls title, followed by Stanwood (140.5) and Oak Harbor (98.5).

Joseph Noland was the only Wildcat to win two individual events, taking the shot put (46-04.5) and discus (153-09).

Other winners for the boys were Ben Gasper in the 3,200 (10:25.15) and the 4×400 relay team of Chris Brown, TJ Passmore, Gabe Salinger and Josiah Welch (3:37.25).

For the girls, Alana Austin won the 200 (26.33) and ran on two winning relay teams. Austin, Matti Miesle, Janae Payne and Amaya Rittierodt captured the 4×100 (49.81), while Austin, Miesle, Payne and Jenna Cooley took the 4×200 (1:47.22).

Freshman Alexis Smith won the 3,200 (12:22.58).

The Wildcats begin the postseason this week when they go to Arlington at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 5 p.m. Friday for the Wesco North Divisional Championships.
