Isn’t it a reminder when something horrible happens in your life to appreciate the air that you breathe and all the wonderful people who love you. On the evening of May 19, our house in Oak Harbor had a fire. We would like to start by thanking the Oak Harbor Fire Department for the quick response and the job well done. They were able to stop the fire before it consumed the entire residence. They went above and beyond the call of duty to try and save the life of our dog Sara. The emotional support and dedication of the entire department was astounding. Chief Ray, you and your entire staff, from the bottom of your hearts, thank you.

Also to our friends and family who were there to support us for hugs, a warm house, meals, a shoulder to cry on, whatever we needed. We are unable to explain how much that means. To our neighborhood, thank you very much for all your efforts and contacting us and doing what you could to save Sara. To our coworkers at VAQ-139 and the Navy Exchange, thank you for all your concern and willingness to help. Last but not least, to the person who left two envelopes with $500 cash in each with a simple note inside. Your act of kindness has restored our belief in human nature. We promise you this … we will pay you back by giving to someone else in their time of need.
