North Whidbey Aquatic Club’s Ethan Tack claimed the high-point award for 9-year-old boys at the Pacific Northwest Swimming Divisional Championships in Federal Way March 27-28.

Tack won the 50 fly (34.88) and 100 individual medley (1:17.33) and placed third in the 50 back (37.49). Tack’s 100 IM time qualified him for next March’s Age Group Sectional (AGS) Championships in Federal Way.

Also qualifying for AGS was Aquajet Olivia Tungate, adding cuts in the girls 9-10 50 free (30.20), 50 breast (40.79) and 100 IM (1:16.52). Tungate earned runner-up honors in the girls 9-year-old high point contest.

Aquajets earning new PNS Gold times included Sam Hines, Elisabeth Lundgren and Brett Vagt. Those earning new PNS Silver times included Hines, Angela Johnson, Michael Johnson, Kevin Levy, Lundgren and Mary Middleton.

Vagt became the fourth Aquajet to join the Minute Club this season, churning to a 59.36 in his 100 freestyle.

Michael Johnson was NWAC’s Swimmer of the Meet, racing to 100 percent PR’s, winning all five of his heats and dropping an average of 10 seconds per 50.

NWAC competes next in the Painterman Invite at Marysville High School Pool April 18-19. It will field a team of 50 athletes.

The North Whidbey Aquatic Club is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District. It includes swimmers of all abilities and ages from 6 through college.

Tryouts occur Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at the city pool from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke. The first two weeks are free.
