ANNETTE K. SOUTHARD, daughter of Tad and Sherry Southard, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Washington State University on Dec. 11, 2010 with a B.A. in Social Sciences. A resident of Oak Harbor, Annie is also a dual 2008 home school graduate and Skagit Valley College graduate.
JOIVANNA CASHEN COBURN graduated Dec. 16, 2010, from Baptist Health System School of Health Professionals in San Antonio, Texas, with her degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
A 2004 graduate of Coupeville High School and 2008 graduate of Washington State University with a BS in Zoology, she is currently studying for her national boards. Joivanna and her husband reside in San Antonio, Texas.

BILL AND SYLVIA GRASSER celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 25, which was Thanksgiving.
They were married in the Methodist Church in 1960 in Coupeville. Bill is the son of Melvin and Jeannette Grasser and Sylvia is the daughter of Mary and Richard Coates, all of Coupeville.
JODI JACKSON, a 2010 graduate of Oak Harbor High School, was the recipient of a $500 scholarship from Beta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa. The chapter, an international sororority of women teachers, awards a scholarship annually to a graduate who is pursuing a career in education.
Oak Harbor resident and Azusa Pacific University student LISA MARIE JONES made the academic Deans’ List at APU. Jones is honored for a spring semester 2010 academic standing of a 3.5 or better grade-point average. Jones is a Social Work major, who is joined by nearly 1,500 other students.
JUSTIN JANSEN, a juior from Oak Harbor, is a member of the Student Government Association for 2010-11 at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.
AMANDA DANIELLE GRANELL, a resident of Oak Harbor, has earned an Associate in Applied Science, Administrative/Management Studies, from Excelsior College in Albany, N.Y.
JERRY S. BUCKLEY, a resident of Oak Harbor, has earned a Bachelor of Science in Business degree from Excelsior College in Albany, N.Y.
Island Transit employee LOU SHUART received the company’s bi-annual June Employee of the Half award, an honor chosen by fellow employees. Lou helps run a smooth operation in the office, she has a positive attitude, a cheery disposition and artistic flare!
