Artist Marcy Johnson, weaver, jewelry maker and teacher, will be at PENN COVE GALLERY in Coupeville with her spinning wheel from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17. Marcy designs, spins yarn and produces woven artwork including woven scarves, blankets, rugs and more. She also makes hammered metal jewelry decorated with beads, wire and waxed linen. Her work reflects her extensive travel and research into ethnic cultures and fiber techniques. Penn Cove Gallery is located at 9 NW Front Street, Coupeville.

Beth Johns is the featured artist at OAK HARBOR CITY HALL for November and December. Johns earned a degree in studio art from Duke University, where she focused on print-making, oil painting and photography. She finds inspiration in the island and its waters. She believes the artistic process is important for wellbeing and enjoys sharing her artistic vision with others through her photographs. She began taking the details in her pictures and repeated them to create patterns. The repetition and rhythm present in the new image accentuate its emotive quality, while creating another layer of perception.
