A big thank you goes out to teen and adult volunteers at the Oak Harbor Library from all the new babies in Island County. On July 14, volunteers worked hard to put together 500 Books for Babies kits, to be given to newborns and their parents at local hospitals. Each kit consists of a canvas bag with a high quality board book, information on the importance of reading to babies, and an invitation to the newest family member to register for his or her first library card. It’s never too early to start reading to your baby!
Many thanks to Dani Fowler, Sue Norman, Susan Scheen, Katie DeSanto and Karen Jones. Four teen volunteers also participated: Brandon and Sarah Goodman, Bri Otruba and Nolan Exe. Materials for the kits, which are valued at about $15 each, are provided through the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation.
