Nine members of the North Whidbey Aquatic Club collected individual wins at the Summer League Championships at Marysville-Pilchuck High School Aug. 7.
Brett Vagt, 15, led the way with three wins in the male 13-and-over division (100 fly, 1:08.01; 100 back, 1:11.48; 100 individual medley, 1:10.85).
Joel Erickson, 13 (male senior 100 free, 1:04.49; male 13-and-over 100 breast, 1:18.68); Angela Johnson, 15 (female senior free, 1:05.47; female 13-and-over 100 fly, 1:16); and Michael Johnson, 12 (male 11-12 50 fly, 35.66; 50 back, 37.56) each collected two firsts.
Other winners were Justin Erickson, 8 (male 8-and-under 25 fly, 23.52); Michelle Robinson, 13 (female 13-and-over 100 back, 1:11.65); Hannah Schroeder, 14 (female 13-and-over 100 breast, 1:24.47); Jacob Thompson, 10 (male 10-and-under 50 back, 49.72); and Lauren Vagt, 13 (female 13-and-over 100 IM, 1:14.41).
NWAC also won two relays. Robinson, Joel Erickson, Lauren Vagt and Brett Vagt combined to take the 13-and-over mixed 200 medley in 2:12.66. The same group with Angela Johnson replacing Robinson took the mixed 200 free in 1:57.44.
Local swimmers recording 100 percent personal records were Joel Erickson, Samantha Hines, Alli Hoffmire, Angela Johnson, Michael Johnson, Schroeder, Lauren Vagt and Robinson.
One-hundred percent relay PR’s came from Brenden Darnell, Hines, Hoffmire, Angela Johnson, Jillian Pape and Schroeder.
Joel Erickson earned a Pacific Northwest Swimming cut. Justin Erickson, Angela Johnson, Michael Johnson, Pape, Robinson, Schroeder, Thompson and Lauren Vagt each clocked gold cuts; Hines and Erica Sugatan posted silver cuts.
Robinson was the NWAC swimmer of the meet, according to head coach Neil Romney. Robinson’s 100 percent individual and relay PR’s, gold cut in winning the 100 back with a four-second drop and aggressive swimming earned her the honor.
