This is our yearly reminder to the public that West Beach Road is unsafe at the speed limit it is now. I hope that the woman who wrote the letter (News-Times, Jan. 19) will get up a petition, not just in her neighborhood but also the people that live on the whole stretch of West Beach! Enough is enough!

Whidbey News-Times has an archive of speed-related stories about West Beach Road, ones that include the irresponsible responses of our commissioners.

I had a car land upside down in my yard and I can tell you other stories about the speeding that occurs daily.

West Beach Road would be a good place to put traffic cameras and send out tickets in the mail.

Maybe we could get the Navy involved. Most of the traffic is going on to the base anyway.
