Paul and Sue Bixby of Oak Harbor, Wash., are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary on March 31, 2014.
They were married on March 31, 1944, in South Bend, Ind., and have three daughters, nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
During their first years together, Paul’s career as a civil engineer with the U.S. Navy “SeaBees” provided many interesting experiences.
They traveled throughout the United States, Europe and North Africa.
Sue worked as a medical laboratory technician during this time and more recently spent many years working at Island Hospital in Anacortes.
When they retired from the military in 1968, they chose to settle in beautiful Oak Harbor.
For more than 40 years they enjoyed living on their property on West Beach Road, and they now reside at The Regency Cottages in Oak Harbor.
They are very active members of the community, enjoying activities with the Senior Center, trips to the opera and many other events, Tai Chi classes and the New Englanders Club.
