Editor,
It is my understanding that for the last design meeting (charrette) held on May 6 that 12 Oak Harbor citizens were invited to participate in the process and that they were to represent a cross section of the community.
It is further my understanding that six of these people — 50 percent — took enough interest to show up.
To the other 50 percent who did not bother, I say “shame on you.” You had the opportunity to be the voice of the community, and you utterly failed to even be interested enough to be present.
Other citizens, however, did show up, but because they were not invited, they were not allowed to speak at all.
There are many of us who would have jumped at the opportunity to serve our fellow citizens, but you were the ones chosen and invited.
I have no idea who you are, but you have done a great disservice to your community, and, to a large extent, you are to thank for what happens to the design of this facility.
