Continuing its undefeated conference run, the Coupeville High School girls basketball team won 51-39 at Port Townsend Tuesday, Feb. 2.

The Wolves, who posted a 9-0 record in their first year in the Olympic League last winter, upped their current mark to 7-0 (13-4 overall). Coupeville closes out the regular season with two more games this week: at Chimacum (1-6, 4-14) at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, and at home with Klahowya (3-4, 4-13) at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6.

The Wolves clinched their second consecutive league title last week.

It took Coupeville a little time to get going in the win at Port Townsend Tuesday.

Tiffany Briscoe scored all five of her points in the first quarter to help the Wolves lead 11-10.

Coupeville then registered 20 points in the second period to build a double-digit lead, 31-20. Makana Stone scored 10 points and Mia Littlejohn six in the quarter to jump-start the offense.

Behind six more points from Stone and a stingy defense that surrendered only five, Coupeville lead 40-25 after three periods.

Seven different Wolves scored as point guard Littlejohn did “a really good job of distributing the ball,” coach David King said.

Stone led the way with 22 points; Littlejohn had nine; Briscoe, Lindsey Roberts and Kailey Kellner five each; Lauren Grove three; and Allison Wenzel two.

Stone added 14 rebounds and four blocks, Grove had three assists and two blocks, Briscoe registered five rebounds and Kellner had four assists.

Kassie Olin scored 13 points and Jazmani Apker-Montoya 12 for Port Townsend.
